About the Author

Jeremy P. E. Spencer received his PhD degree from King’s College London in 1997 and is currently Professor of Nutritional Medicine at the University of Reading. His initial work focused on the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying neuronal death in Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases. His recent interests concern how flavonoids influence brain health through their interactions with specific cellular signaling pathways pivotal in protection against neurotoxins, in preventing euroinflammation, and in controlling memory, learning, and neurocognitive performance.

Alan Crozier graduated from the University of Durham in the UK, and after completing postgraduate studies at the University of London, he moved to a postdoctoral position at the University of Calgary in Alberta. He is currently a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow, working in the area of dietary flavonoids and phenolics. His research group has extensive national and international collaborations and is focused principally on teas, coffee, fruit juices, and wines, and the absorption and metabolism of a diversity of potentially protective polyphenolic compounds in the body.

You could study 2 hours for every credit you take, but that would require 30 hours of studying and 15 hours in class. Do you want a 45-hour workweek? I don’t. I usually keep it closer to 20. This gives me a lot more free time. I’ve wasted a lot of this free time sleeping, partying, and playing video games. However, I have so much extra time that I also started a business creating web sites, founded a nonprofit organization, and wrote this book. Could you use this sort of extra time? Read on, and I’ll show you how you too can get better grades and have more free time.

I’m going to teach you the easier way to get good grades. You’ll do less note-taking, you’ll do less studying, you’ll do less reading, and you might not even have to do any of the assigned readings. You won’t waste your time with the busy work. Instead, you’ll focus on the graded assignments and tests. Since you’ll be doing less work (and only the important work), you’ll do that work better. It’s pretty easy to do good work when there isn’t much of it.

Really good story

I "feel" that these stories capture the heart of batman, though, he is presented as a 2D character without going into too much of his real character, it's a good story. The finish up with the intro of batgirl is nice. Not over the top but a definite way to wet the appetite. The author is very good at telling a coherent story and the art work is quite good.

Distillation of Groundbreaking Work

James Boyd White was and is a leader in the law & literature school; of the living, he arguably is the leader. With the original, longer version of this book, he took up that role. White has the courage to present his ideas, which are fresh and sophisticated even now, 40 years after the book appeared, without cant or cloak of academic gibberish. For decades, the social sciences (microeconomics most of all, but sociology, behavioral psychology, and political science) have claimed a hold on the legal academe. That hold has gotten little critical examination. Without disrespect to the contributions of the social sciences to our understanding of law's purposes and role, still White's work beckons a revival of the values and contributions of the humanities--pursuit of truth, exploration and integration of the human experience, respect for the human being as an end, acknowledgment of virtue, measured assessment of the difference between right and wrong, appreciation of the power of rhetoric, and perhaps above all a yearning for justice--in the way that law is taught and practiced.
