comprehensive, no-holds barred political history

Armando Navarro has written a comprehensive political history of the Mexicano in American society. It is difficult reading for some (see other reviews), yet no legitimate historian can argue with the research, the insights and the accuracy of much of what is said here. Rather than a "patriotic" or simply an "adversarial history", Navarro has written a nuanced analysis of what it has been to be Mexican in American society. While some may disagree with his recommendations, they will be hard put to find a better chronicling of this history. Navarro will rank among the best of U.S. scholars of color, and will be known for a long time as one of the most prolific and influential Chicano scholars of all time. Move over Norm Chomsky, Howard Zinn and Rudy Acuna.

Navarro predicts that by 2015 half of California will be Brown. By 2025 half of the southwest is going to be Brown. He states that we might have to change the White House to the Brown House. This book underlynies the policital forces that prevent and have prevented Mexicans from taking polictical control.

It came in great condition even though it was a used textbook. a little watered damage but nothing that would interfere with the actual text in the book. the book itself is great to have if you're interested in Chicano history, it goes into great detail through different time periods. a must have for anyone interested in Chicano culture and history.

The Lost Art of Hand Drawing

Well, this amazing book is full with inspirations.
The author clearly states the importance of site observations through the use of hand drawn sketches for more comprehensive understanding of the surrounding objects.
I received this book as a Christmas gift, and I can spend hours and hours reading it.

Prepare for a successful second marriage

Marriage isn't always easy, especially the second time around. But The Remarriage Adventure can help you prepare as much as possible for a successful, joyful second marriage. Most of the time, figuring out the right questions to ask is the most difficult part of addressing any new challenge, and this book provides those questions--lists of them--for potential spouses to discuss before they make the decision to marry. And to put the questions in context, each chapter tells real-life stories of couples who have been in the situation. Merging two adult personalities in a household can be daunting, but when you add kids to the mix, you need even more tools to manage well. The book includes plenty of advice for "blending with kids." Though The Remarriage Adventure is for someone considering a second marriage, it would be helpful (the lists of questions particularly) for anyone considering tying the knot.

I was disheartened to see a review of The Re-Marriage Adventure claim that this valuable book is "nothing more than another self-help" book. Nothing could be further from the truth. This book can be a lifeline for people considering re-marriage. It speaks of the redemption possible for re-marrying couples who don't look to "self" but look to -- no, cling to -- the Lord. The book is loaded with authenticity and passion, because the authors have made this transition themselves, navigating the often threatening waters of learning to trust again and what it means to really love and serve one another as a married couple seeking not just a better marriage than before but the best that marriage can offer. I especially love the many sidebar lists of practical and useful tips, in addition to the frank way the authors speak of difficult subjects. This is a must-read. Remarriage Preparation

Remarriage is a topic that I have thought about a lot. It's one that is important to me, because I would like to be married again, but I also want to be sure that if I ever do remarry, that I don't put myself or my children back into a similar situation to the one I left in my first marriage. This time, I want to do things right.

The Re-Marriage Adventure is a premarital book for couples to go through together before the wedding (and preferably before the engagement), but it will benefit couples even after marriage. This is a book that will help you and your future spouse to really know each other before you make the commitment to spend the rest of your lives serving one another in marriage.

I found this book to be extremely thorough. This book addressed every topic I could think of (and in some cases, which I made a physical list of) that I had already decided I needed to discuss with any potential husband prior to getting too emotionally involved. Remarriage is a choice that I think needs to be made objectively. The important topics raised in this book need to be addressed realistically and without the cloud of infatuation distorting your perception. I know that sounds unromantic, but the intimacy that comes from truly knowing someone and accepting him/her, faults included, will create the right environment for a joyful marriage and plenty of opportunity for romance. Going into a marriage based on infatuation and happy feelings alone is more likely to result in long-term disappointment, if you did not truly come to know the person you are marrying. I already proved that in my first marriage.

This book is divided into 12 chapters. The first 11 chapters each have the story of a real couple (names changed) to demonstrate the principles and lessons taught. The final chapter wraps up the book neatly and with much encouragement. Toward the end of each chapter is a brief section that specifically ties the chapter in its entirety to blending a family with children, followed by questions to consider yourself and to ask your future spouse, and the chapters are closed with a list of relevant scriptures.

The book starts off on the right foot with a chapter about redemption. I think this is an excellent way to start a book about remarriage, because prior to entering a second marriage covenant, the end of the first marriage must be addressed, and closure needs to be reached.This chapter talks about the grief process that must take place after the death of a marriage, as well as forgiveness. Cohabitation is brought up, and the authors urge any couples currently living together to make the decision now to live apart until they are married. Following chapters discuss readiness, trusting again, serving, being "real" with each other, finances, intimacy, extended family and teamwork.

I got a lot out of this book. There are several books that I consider "required reading" for the next man to ask my hand in marriage. This will be one of them.

Author and cartoonist Art Roche has more than 20 years of experience in cartooning, illustration and entertainment development. He is currently the creative director for Smart Bomb Interactive, a game development company in Utah. GREAT BLEND OF INSTRUCTION AND INSPIRATION

This is unlike any other cartooning book past or present. Too many cooks of this genre show you the standard "draw an oval and a triangle and now you have a duck!" or "draw like I do!" instructions. Art Roche's book teaches kids to think, to imagine, to be funny. Art gives readers the tools to pursue their styles, not his. It's an easy read, full of great illustrations, and humorous examples. Art Roche makes anyone from from 4 to 84 want to pick up a pencil and have fun! Great gift for any kid or kid at heart.

Sharpen those pencils

My 12-year-old picked up this book and devoured it in one sitting, reporting it helped him conquer some of the problems he had encountered as a recreational cartoonist. He especially enjoyed the section devoted to writing.

This is a gorgeous book - hardcover with color on every page. Great art, lively text, and very inspiring - it works as both a "how-to" and personal cartooning cheerleader.

Well written..in a slow and steady way

This is my first book on "Think Rich and Grow Rich" sequal. Have not read the original version. The author had painstakingly draft the chapters as such that one can easily understand its true meaning, step by step. Every chapter has some examples, and although it does not elaborate much, it still magically convery its message to the reader. Self research is needed if one feels it not suffice. I personally think this is a well written book and recommend to all readers.

A MODERN INTERPRETATION OF TIMELESS ADVICE

This is a very necessary 'translation' of Hill's book. The language in the original could be misunderstood or thought politically incorrect by today's pencil-necked do gooders.

The author is first and foremost a devotee. My advice to this audience is not just to read it but to live it. An ideal pocket sized textbook for anyone. By the way - it works.
